March 31, 2022
Going to the bar can be a letdown.
You might have to wait for a table or be trying to save more money. Maybe you’re already a homebody and find the whole thing a bit overwhelming.
If you love a good cocktail, but you love the idea of spending time alone in the comfort of your apartment more, don’t worry. We’ve put together a comprehensive list of simple drink recipes so that you can make some cocktails at home.
1. Amaretto sour
Amaretto sours are an Italian drink with a bold taste and appearance. You might be familiar with the whiskey sour, which uses the same ingredients but substitutes whiskey for the Amaretto. To make this easy cocktail recipe, just grab a shaker.
To make this drink:
Add 1 ½ ounces of Amaretto liqueur, three-quarter ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of simple syrup to a shaker.
(Optional: add egg whites for some forth.)
Once mixed, add ice and shake again.
Add additional ice cubes to your cocktail glass, then strain your mixed drink into the glass.
Garnish with a lemon and serve chilled.

2. Moscow mule
Moscow mules are straightforward cocktails to make. All they require is some vodka, ginger beer, and ice. You can substitute ginger ale in a pinch, but it’s not nearly as good; the ginger beer elevates this mule from being a mixed drink to a true vodka cocktail.
To make this drink:
Grab your highball cocktail glass.
Add ice.
Pour in 2 ounces of vodka.
Top off with ginger beer. Stir to mix.
Garnish the drink with a lime, and serve chilled.

What cocktails can I make that are perfect for an at-home girl’s night? Cosmopolitans are a feminine, flirty red drink that are equally easy to make and easy to drink.
To make this drink:
Grab a cocktail shaker.
Add 1 ½ ounce of vodka, one-quarter ounce triple sec, one-quarter ounce lime juice, one-quarter ounce of cranberry juice, and ice.
Shake together.
Strain into a martini glass. Serve chilled.

Fill the mixing glass with ice.
Add 1 ounce of gin, 1 ounce of Campari, and 1 ounce of sweet vermouth to the mixing glass. Stir until chilled.

5. Blue margarita
We’re all familiar with the classic cocktail margarita, but what about a blue version? It’s a drink with a distinctive blue hue that speaks to lazy summer days and fun in the sun.
To make this drink:
Rim your glass with coarse salt. Set the glass aside.
Grab your cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with 1 ½ ounce of tequila, 1 ounce of fresh lime juice, and 1 ounce of Curacao liqueur. Shake well to mix.
Pour your mix into the margarita glass. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
Bartender’s tip: If you really want to cool off, add these ingredients to a blender with a few handfuls of ice to make a pitcher of slushy margaritas.

6. Rusty nail
Not everyone thinks of rusty nails when it comes to cocktail recipes. Luckily there’s no great mystery behind it: it’s just a way of adding a little more flair to a simple scotch.
To make this cocktail:
Grab two glasses — one for your drink, the other to mix.
Add 1 ½ ounces of scotch and three-quarters ounces of Drambuie to the mixing glass. Stir together.
Add half a cup of ice cubes to the mixture. Stir again until the drink is chilled.
Add 1-2 ice cubes to your cocktail glass.

7. Lynchburg Lemonade
Lynchburg Lemonade is slightly misleading because it doesn’t have lemonade in it; just triple sec, sour mix, simple syrup, Jack Daniel’s, and lemon-lime soda. It does taste like lemonade, but the drink is named for Lynchburg, Tennessee, which is home to Jack Daniel’s Distillery. Lynchburg itself is in a dry county, meaning it’s illegal to purchase alcohol there — but don’t worry, it’s still legal to distill and distribute.
To make this drink:
Grab a glass.
Add 1 ounce of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, 1 ounce of triple sec, 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice, and 4 ounces of lemon-lime soda. Stir to mix.
Add ice. Stir again.
Add a lemon wedge to garnish, and serve.

8. Bellini
Bellinis are fun cocktails to make at home that work well for small parties and get-togethers. They come in several varieties, but our favorite method uses fresh fruit. You can make this a champagne cocktail, too, by substituting the processo with a French bottle of bubbly.
To make this drink:
Grab 3 peaches, 1 bottle of chilled prosecco, sugar, lemon juice, and water.
Peel and dice your peaches. Put them in a blender.
Add half a cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the blender.
Turn the blender on. Mix until the contents are entirely smooth.
Grab a champagne flute. Fill one-quarter full with your homemade peach puree.
Fill the rest of the champagne flute with prosecco. Serve.

9. Sazerac
The Sazerac is a simple cocktail recipe with a long history, beginning in 19th Century New Orleans. Although it requires more ingredients than the other drinks, it’s relatively easy to mix.
To make this drink:
Pour one-quarter ounce of absinthe into your glass to coat it. Pour out the excess.
Combine ice, 2 ounces of rye whiskey, one-half ounce of simple syrup, and 3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters in a mixing glass.
Stir for 30 seconds. Let it chill.
Grab a cocktail glass. Place ice in it.
Pour the drink over the ice. Top it off with a lemon peel garnish, and serve.

10. Cranberry mimosas
Few cocktail recipes are easier to make than the brunch favorite mimosa. But instead of the classic mimosa (which usually includes orange juice or another citrusy flavor), we’re going to recommend the cranberry variety instead.
To make this drink:
Dip the rim of the glass in sugar.
Add one-quarter cup of cranberry juice to a champagne glass.
Top the drink with champagne.
Use fresh cranberries to garnish.

11. B2C2

To make this drink:
Grab a glass.
Add 1 ½ ounce of each of the following ingredients: brandy, benedictine, and Cointreau.

1 ounce of light rum.
1 ounce of spiced rum.
