After a challenging hot summer day at work, you deserve to relax with a special treat. Put something comfy on, play some music, get your favorite snacks delivered and make a delicious drink. Because nothing says dolce far niente better than a refreshing white wine cocktail. What is it going to be? A noble Kir? An invigorating wine spritzer? Or something fruity and carefree? Let us tempt you with some options.

Kir

Kir is a classic French apéritif made with dry white wine topped with crème de cassis. It was named after Félix Kir, a mayor of Dijon, who popularized the drink by offering it at his receptions. In France, this cocktail is made with Bourgogne Aligoté, a white wine from Burgundy. Another common option is Chablis. Kir is traditionally served straight up in a white wine glass. But since you make your own rules, feel free to add ice, berries (raspberries work well) or a slice of lemon. Just don’t tell your French friends.

If you’re feeling especially fancy or if the occasion calls for it, switch to Kir Royale, a Champagne version of this cocktail served in a flute.

Bonus tip: Try pouring some crème de cassis over vanilla ice cream and thank us later.

Wine spritzer

There are many wine spritzer recipes out there, and you can even come up with your own. The one thing they all have in common is this: they make for a great patio party cocktail. Or an evening reading on your balcony. Or an evening catching up on your emails. The two main ingredients of a wine spritzer are dry wine (for example, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling or Grenache Blanc) and club soda. Club soda can be replaced with sparkling water or even (scandalous!) your favorite seltzer.

St-Germain spritzer

OK, technically the classic St-Germain spritz calls for dry sparkling wine, but some people enjoy it with Sauvignon Blanc, so it’s our responsibility to share this option with you. You can use St-Germain liqueur or another elderflower-based liquor. Add some dry white wine, club soda and garnish with fresh lavender or a lemon wedge.

White wine slushie

A true crowd pleaser, a white wine slushie is a fast-to-make and affordable summer drink. Plus, you can get as lazy or creative as you like. The basic recipe calls for a white wine of your choosing, simple syrup (or white sugar) and ice. Obviously, a flavored slushie would be much more fun. Add ripe white peaches, lemons or berries and start blending. You can even make a cool layered slushie like this one

Pro tip: Freeze your fruit and berries overnight and you won’t have to use much ice!

White sangria

White sangria is another delicious summer sip that allows for a lot of creativity. You can make this white wine cocktail as citrusy, as fruity or as boozy as you like. If you want a citrus-based white sangria, opt for a sweeter Riesling or Moscato as a base. Then add sliced green apple, orange and lemon wedges, some fresh lime juice and sugar. Some recipes suggest that you should cheat and add some store-bought orange juice, but please don’t. For a stronger version, add a couple of shots of brandy (Calvados is a great option).

White wine punch

If you need something to serve at a large party (we hope those can happen again soon!), try making a white wine punch. You can follow a specific recipe or just use fruit, berries and liquor that you already have at home. Plus, if you’re missing something, Gopuff can deliver it to you in a matter of minutes.

A pear punch is one of our favorites. Mix white wine, pear brandy (Absolut Pear is another option), your fruit of choice (pears and green apples work well) and add some ice. Voilà!

Mulled white wine

We said this post was going to be a collection of refreshing white wine cocktails. But what about those of you who enjoy hot drinks all year round? We see you, we love you and some of us are just like you. That’s why we included this mulled wine recipe.

The secret to a great mulled wine is actually not great wine. You can use very affordable bottles and make a magical drink. What should be of great quality is the fruit and the spices you’re using. Make sure the apples and the lemons are ripe and the ginger is fresh. Opt for cinnamon sticks rather than ground cinnamon and dried clove buds rather than ground cloves. Use good honey. If you’re allergic to honey or if it doesn’t seem sweet enough to you, add some light brown sugar. You will taste the difference!

You will need at least two bottles of white wine (you can’t go wrong with Sauvignon Blanc). Add some apples (Granny Smith, Golden Delicious or a combination), lemons (use at least one full lemon), spices and honey. Feel free to add orange peel. Poke the lemons and apples with a fork to get some juice out. Warm the wine on a stove, but don’t let it boil. If you want the drink to be stronger, add some brandy.
