MIAMI  – June 16, 2020 – Gopuff and the Miami HEAT today donated thousands of care packages filled with everyday essentials to every employee of Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis. Alongside Gopuff leadership, HEAT Dancers and the Miami HEAT’s beloved mascot “Burnie” surprised Doctors Hospital workers with bags filled with water, antibacterial wipes, soap, snacks and more, thanking them for their tireless work caring for others. The Hospital Worker Appreciation Rally celebrating and thanking the city’s health care heroes also featured an onsite DJ, Miami HEAT Dancers and Coral Gables Vice-Mayor Vince Lago. Click here for a video from the event.

Focused on instantly delivering essentials to customers when they need them most, Gopuff is proud to support those working to keep our communities healthy and safe with its Health Care Support Initiative.

Through the initiative, the company committed $1 million in orders to hospital employees across the country working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis.

“At Gopuff, we are constantly challenging ourselves to give back to and support the communities in which our teams work and live. So, when we launched in Miami a few weeks ago and began growing our local team here, we decided to extend our Health Care Support Initiative to hospital workers in this great city,” said Gopuff co-founders Rafael Ilishayev and Yakir Gola. “In recognition of the long, difficult hours hospital workers in the Miami area are facing, we wanted to provide them with some relief while they are taking care of others, delivering the essentials they need quickly and safely.”

“We were thrilled when Gopuff launched in Miami, especially amid a health crisis, as it provides safe delivery of daily needs in minutes,” said Glen Oskin, Vice President of Corporate Sales for the Miami HEAT. “Once we learned it was already making a charitable impact in the South Florida community, we knew we wanted to get involved and show our support to the Doctors Hospital staff we all admire.”

When Gopuff launched service in Fort Lauderdale and Miami with the opening of three facilities in late April, the company donated tens of thousands of KN95 masks to the city of Miami to support essential city and government employees working everyday to maintain our access to vital services and resources. The company plans to continue expanding throughout Miami with additional facility launches in the coming weeks.

As part of its response to the crisis, Gopuff has implemented swift changes across the business to ensure the health of its customers, driver partners and employees. To read more about Gopuff’s efforts to combat COVID-19, visit: https://www.gopuff.com/c/sick-day/dm9190
