Comparably’s diversity award is based only on sentiment ratings from employees of color (non-Caucasian) to reflect their workplace experiences within the same 20 core culture metrics analyzed for Best Culture.

Methodology: Comparably Awards are based on sentiment ratings anonymously provided by employees about their workplaces in multiple categories on Comparably.com during a 12-month period (December 1, 2019 through December 1, 2020). There were no fees or costs associated with participating, nor was nomination required.

To qualify, Large companies (500+ employees) must have met a minimum of 75 employee participants and Small/Mid-Size companies (less than 500 employees) needed a minimum of 25 participants. For fairness and statistical significance, additional weight was given to companies with more employee participation.

Questions are asked in a variety of formats in 20 core culture categories – in yes/no, true/false, 1-10 scale, and multiple-choice formats – which provides a comprehensive and more accurate look at what it’s really like to work at companies. The final data set was compiled from 10 million ratings across 60,000 U.S. companies.
