When it comes to the type of candy people across the United States are purchasing, most people prefer chocolate over sweet or sour candy. Looking at Gopuff order data, the top indexed candies in almost every single state (86%) were chocolate and sweet candies (think Skittles), with sour candies the least popular.
The most popular of the chocolate treats? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (yum!). With this in mind, we’d say that if you’re looking to pass out some crowd-pleasing candy this year, be sure to stock up on Reese’s.
While we love chocolate, we know it’s not for everyone. So, if you’re looking to round things out, consider Starburst and Sour Patch Kids, as both take the lead as the most popular candy in the sweet and sour candy categories, respectively.
