Nic: Tell us a little bit about your career history – what led to this point?
Rosie: Before Gopuff, I worked on the retail side of the operations world as a district manager in the home decor industry. For over a decade, I worked for companies like Kirkland’s, Pier 1 Imports, and Williams Sonoma. Then, after 12 years in retail operations, I decided I wanted to make a change and work for a company that’s innovative and fresh – somewhere I could learn new skills and get into something I’m really passionate about. When I interviewed with Gopuff co-founder and co-CEO Rafael Ilishayev, we talked about how there were opportunities at Gopuff to blaze new trails and I knew this was the right place for me. It’s such an amazing organization to be a part of. It’s been beautiful to see this company grow and to learn new skills along the way.
Nic: As you of course know, we’re a customer-first business here at Gopuff. How do you put the customer first in your role?
Rosie: I am a customer first and foremost. Outside of working at Gopuff, I’m a customer and use the app 3-4 times per week to order snacks and supplies for my house, myself, and my young daughter. As a busy professional and mother, Gopuff is perfect for me because I’m always on the go. And it is through my own experiences using the app that I learn the most about how to improve the customer experience. I’m constantly evaluating and thinking critically about ways to enhance the experience and make operations run more smoothly. In my current role, I am able to see across multiple business units and provide actionable feedback, solving problems in real-time.
Nic: How has your role at Gopuff progressed over time? What are a few lessons you’ve learned throughout your career here?
Rosie: I’ve cycled through a few different roles at Gopuff and each time my role shifts, I gain a new perspective. I have developed a deeper understanding of how different teams work and what challenges they face. It’s made it easier for me to become a supporter of others’ and their work – I know how I can jump in and help.
Nic: You’re CO-Chair of Gopuff’s EmpowerHER Employee Resource Group (ERG) for women. What made you interested in getting involved in Gopuff’s ERGs?
Rosie: Throughout my career, I have often been the only female in the room. I wanted to be able to help both women and men learn new ways to support one another, to share my own experiences so others can learn from them. I’ve had the privilege of participating in a few panels so far, sharing my perspective on how we can support one another, what it means to be an ally, and how we can all take steps to lift one another up. It’s been a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to continuing to work with the group.
Nic: What’s your favorite or most frequently ordered product on Gopuff?
Rosie: As a mom – everything! Since it’s usually something for my daughter, I get a lot of dairy products for her, cleaning products for around the home, wipes to on-the-go, snacks, the list goes on!
