Deanston was first established in 1785 as a cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith. The mill flourished and the surrounding small village grew into a thriving community. The cotton mill closed in 1965, but its prime location and access to fresh water made it the perfect location for a whiskey distillery. Today, Deanston is still the heart of the community and crafts artisan single malt Scotch whiskies using traditional Scottish ingredients and distillation techniques. Its abundant access to fresh water and practice of aging in Kentucky-made oak barrels give the whiskies the sweet, honeyed flavors for which the brand is known.
